she watches all this kind of quietly curious. it's a lot of interesting information about what strohl's world is like so she is taking it in the way you would a book. magic is neat and this louis guy seems like he sucks? the fantasy racism is... something. ]

i will explain nothing about this. anyway - when this memory ends, strohl's standing very still, his hands flexing into fists, then relaxing. this is something heavy that lives with him, even still - the sight of will, transformed and horrored like that, haunts his nightmares even now.

when alex talks, he startles out of it. what happens next? what a question.

...It's a long story, but - he's been gathering power for a long time, in hopes to take over our country utilising magla. The anxiety of people, that is, made manifest. That's what he did to Will. The king is the one has the ability to harness all of the magla produced by the populace with the King's sceptre.

He wants to burn the whole bloody place down, and the people - half of them have no idea. They think he's their ally, that he'll protect them, but it's all a lie.

[ there's anger there in his voice, low and simmering towards the end, but he shakes it off. ALSO HIT ME WITH SPOILERS im a big weenie baby so i probably won't play ]

I guess I just don't understand what he gets out of it. I can understanding wanting to destroy everything if there's a goal beyond that, but...

There was a hole in time. We opened it by mistake and got trapped. It took... a while to gain awareness of the timeloop, and to figure out its terms. To accept them.

Well. Functionally, who knows. I didn't remember the loops for a long time. Actually remembering iterations was an incremental thing. Something that came on near the end of an infinite path.
