vi can find strohl standing outside of one of the clothes shops, poking through the clothing options... he's looking at the tiniest coat pinched between his fingers. ]
she comes up behind him - kind of does a little shuffle-shove sort of thing, getting right up into his space and jostling him with her shoulder in a friendly way, half-grinning. the tiniest bit of roughhousing. ]
Thought you were a clemar, not a fairy? [ teases. ]
[ the jostling is kind of nice honestly - it snaps him out of his focus on the tiny clothes, and almost instinctually he returns it, jostling back easy. ] It's for a friend. Not much better to do while we're sitting around.
[ a beat. ] Unless you wanted it? [ he says, like it is an innocent offer instead of being shitty with a grin, holding the tiny coat out like it will fit vi, mock serious. ]
Better than home - they're not leaving the corpses on the street.
[ the way strohl says this is downright scathing - clearly he does not think it is actually better. both are terrible. ]
Just a pithy memorial message to make sure things stay palatable for the passers-by. Not that I thought this was much of a vacation in the first place, but that trip was an omen if there ever was one.
[ they leave the corpses in the street in her home, too. she folds her arms. ]
Freak accidents happen, but you're right, what a start. It's been two days and we're already dodging accidents left and right. [ she didn't know either of them very well at all obviously, so she's not terribly sad. people die all the time. just.
a pause. ]
There's - reason, someone would want me dead, you know? Or out of the way.
[ i promise you he was in the natura biome anyway chilling because he loves the Country Air TM
anyway ] What the - arghff --
[ one second he is minding his business and the next there is a goat in his hands - strohl squawks and holds it out at arms length, his hair licked up into a cowlick. goatlick. ]
Oh, ha ha. Think there's a court missing its jester somewhere - you know, you can't just compare everything with horns to a clemar, that's just rude.
[ and yet he mostly just sounds like he's been bullied as opposed to mad about it. in the meantime he looks at the poro held in his hands. it is very soft. ] What's the point of this thing, it's a walking stuffed animal...
[ she's here, stitched up and sprawled... idk, wherever we ended up! somewhere soft, maybe, like her hotel room or something. she's antsy, her leg bouncing violently. she has to occasionally stop because it hurts like fuck, but.
she thuds her head back against the wall, and then, roughly: ]
[ yes definitely somewhere soft. he - really does not want to be in his room right now, actually, so it helps to have somewhere else to put his energy.
there's a pause from where he's o ver getting a water or something, stilling, his back to vi. and then, voice rough: ]
...yeah. [ soft. ] Me too.
[ his miyu. it's n ot anything different than norm, really, but it never gets any easier to just lose people like that, especially out of nowhere. he could've lost vi, too.
inhale, exhale, roll your shoulders back. when he turns, he's subdued, but calmed down now, and he brings her the water bottle. ]
[ she mutters, rubbing at her face with her hand. she sits curled up, arms around her stomach, guarding herself. when he comes over, she glances up at him... and then takes the water bottle, holding it. thinks, for a long moment. ]
I don't know. Just showed up in this place, and tried to get out. It was like... a series of rooms? They had monsters, and we fought them with the weapons we picked up.
With how you look right now? You'd have beeen dead too.
[ it's the logical point of view, but. he gets the illogical one, too. the protective one, the one who needs to jump in front. of course he does. he thinks about miyu's big eyes and the way she finally started to relax when they chatted, about how surprised she was when he was nice to her, and he shakes his head to clear it again, jittering a little in place himself as he finally comes to sit down across from her, draping his arms down and resting his elbows on his knees.
[ eventually, she's going to pull him off to get a drink or something, though she very pointedly avoids the cafe. she'll grab them booze and shuffle him off to like... the beach or something, hanging out. catching up.
she sticks close, the whole way, fidgety. ]
... Hey, I'm not happy you had to die to get here, but I'm glad to see you face to face again.
[ oh my god ale sounds incredible right now. yeah. strohl is a white boy who will sweat his way to death at the beach but he will come wherever vi wants, looking between the npcs and the location like a tourist. what the hell. ]
Yeah. [ he says, after a beat - turning his head towards vi, finally, just taking her in. the comment does put a smile on his face, lopsided, though there's a tinge of something melancholy to it, but...it can wait, until they're settled properly. ] Not every day you get to see someone you thought you lost again, is it?
[ which!! considering how much he's lost!!! this is a really, really novel experience, no mater how guilt-tinged it is, and he tries to let himself have a minute or two to just enjoy it for what it is. ]
[ it's okay, she's a white girl from underground who is going to burn to death from the deadly laser sun beams, they can sit under an umbrella.
when he grins at her, even with the tinge of something sad, she gives him a little smile back. he's right, it is a novelty, not losing everybody in your life to never see them again. woah!! murdergame is the first time that's ever happened!!!
she exhales a short, heavy sigh through her nose. ]
Yeah. I don't know if we're really even dead, which is weird. But - forget that, for right now. We don't have to be constantly figuring out the secrets of the universe.
[ snortlaughs, which is really joke's on her because ow. her hangover. ]
I guess we seem like fun targets? I've had enough of being turned into an animal, actually! I'm good!
... But hey, be glad you're not Wriothesley. He's in an apron and fishnets and nothing else, today. [ this is so mean to just say but she thinks it's hysterical. ]
