[he is exploring indeed!! he gives strohl a little wave when he sees him. he is also unaware of the fact that the word "murderer" is circling his wrist in a little band of letters. he sees strohl's, but doesn't comment on it quite yet.]
Sort of like... a big ship, I suppose - it has legs, though. Fastest way to travel across land and sea, and...more recently, across the air, though that's really only one or two.
[ like theirs. strohl getting motion sick is canon it is not just me shitposting.
his eyes flick to rupert's wrist, briefly, and after a pause: ]
[looks at his wrist for another second before glancing towards strohl]
So - a lot of places, it sounds like people ended up killing each other because they were possessed? But that wasn't the case to start with at the school. A little bit after we arrived, me and a few other people were told that the story we were in was trying to trap us there, and it'd latch onto someone each week. They told us the only way to stop that from happening was to kill them, with the hope that we could bring them back eventually, because they'd completely cease to exist if we didn't.
[ that like, yeah, fuck it, lets kill people! that'd be the concern. he looks at rupert's wrist, frowning still, a scowl, but it's more - ]
- Honestly, these damn places - it's infuriating how they find more and more ways to put people in the worst possible situations, force their hands beyond belief. [ its almost like....we love murdergames... not that he could know that ] And to what ends? To force you to come back and jump through some bloody hoop just to trivialise it all again? It's maddening.
[ a beat. huff. ] - 'm sorry, Rupert. I know it's pointless not to tell you to take it to heart, but - it's not your fault you were manipulated. Ugh.
[ as it turns out he's just mad on rupert's behalf actually ]
[nooooo he looks so honestly appreciative to hear that. with a little nod:]
It's... I'm not going to say it was easy, but I don't want to be the kind of person who just shrugs something like that off, either. You know? I think I owe them more than that, no matter whose fault it was.
[all the same:]
I think it was harder for the people who actually got hurt, though. I don't want to forget that either. And I didn't have to do it as long as some of the other people who got roped in, so... I guess what I mean is - I'll be alright. But thank you, genuinely.

strohl opens his eyes when he hears a voice proper - then grins, and waves a bit, easy and relaxed. ]
Think I bloody well earned it. Not often you get to find a hot spring - let alone one like this, where it's portable.
[ coming to the edge!! he doesn't quite see the band yet, but he will when rupert gets closer. ] Care to join me?

he nods as he approaches, though, carefully dipping a hand in to see just how warm it is.]
Ooh, that's nice.
[ok it is hot tub time. he starts getting ready to head in.]

[ hehehe
he will respectfully, like a good boy, turn away and close his eyes!!! jacuzzi time with the boys!!! ]

after a little bit he climbs in]
I absolutely have to find a way to bring one of these home.

Nice, isn't it? We've a self-heating bathtub out on the deck of the gauntlet runner - one of our engineer's ideas - but it doesn't compare to this.
[ the jets... this is heaven actually ]
On a cold night, too.

[tilts his head]
What's the gauntlet runner?

...Rupert..

[he follows his gaze, though, and goes silent for a moment instead of finishing that thought.]
Oh. That's... I guess that's what we're doing this week, huh.
no subject
-- 'm sorry. Ought not to have brought it up, I just -
[ well, its hard not to worry is all. rupert is so kind. ]
... You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to.

…Was that the truth?

[looking at the water instead for a moment.]
Of course of it took something like that to help them more in the long run, I'm going to wish we found another answer. You know?

...Makes you a good man. I knew that already, but it's beside the point. I'm just reiterating the truth.
[ hot tub means he's not gonna nudge, but he flicks a little water his way from where he's sitting, too. ]

Not to pry, but on your arm... Failing who?
