[ thoughtshare helps with this, briefly showing the image on the left over their heads. red, black, purple and heavy. sometimes the weather is Dread. ]
Yeah, you're dead on. Magic in our world is manifest through emotions. Even our archetypes, our abilities, come from harnessing fear and anxiety for ourselves.
High concentrations of those negative emotions turn magla into melancholia, which is what humans are created from, and what they and other monsters are drawn to.
No - well, it ought to be, but it's not. It's a long, complex story.
[ he notices these terrible bad feelings... don't worry... and after a moment, sets his hand on his own heart and rests it there. ]
... The base of it all, though, is that we have to make those feelings manifest. Quite literally - to access the magic of an archetype, it comes out in the form of a resonant vessel. [ she's probably seen kazuki or kaworu's - he briefly shares the mental image of this. ] You have to speak those anxieties and fears out into existence. Claim them as your own, admit the fact that they're there. It's the only way they start to come loose.
... It's not a bad practice, really. [ as he tilts his head, lolling it over to actually look at her. ] Magic or otherwise.

At that point, the issue then isn't on the individual - the issue is the systemic problems that need to be fixed. And that takes time. Nothing's all going to get better once we kill Louis, and even when we fix things, they may still yet be broken. It'll take lots of time, but we hope not to put a bandage on a gushing wound, but find a way to suture it, messy as it may be.
Things keep getting... stirred up. But when this is over I can just relax and finally clear my head. Same as anyone else that's worn out after all this.

[ grimacing... yeah, that checks out... sounds like the tyrant's star... ]
Might as well soak it up while we can, yeah?
